Inpatient Services
To care for patients with short-term, acute-care needs, Michiana
Behavioral Health Center offers an extensive range of inpatient
services to patients of all ages. One reason we
are able to provide excellent care is because of a dedication to
communication. Our services start with a thorough assessment to
ensure each patient is placed in the appropriate level of care. If
it is determined that a patient needs acute care, we address the
patient's problems with a wide range of services including:
- Daily visits with psychiatrist
- Family therapy and education
- 24-hour nursing care
- Group psychotherapy
- Group psychoeducation
- Expressive therapy
- Comprehensive discharge planning
- Substance abuse programs
- Detox programs
- Diagnostic evaluations offered
Special programs are designed for children, adolescents, adults
and geriatrics. Care is comprehensive and appropriate for each age
level in order to fully address the different behavioral health
needs present.
The Program for Children offers:
- Identify and treat mental health problems that interfere with
growth and development
- Teach children practical coping skills and effective ways to
express their emotions and concerns
- Provide family-focused treatment to help strengthen the family
unit and continue positive change
- Structured study hall allowing a patient to maintain studies
with ongoing contact from primary school
- Our Family Program provides information and education related
to Continuum of Care (from outpatient to hospitalization), reasons
for hospitalization, typical diagnoses seen in the hospital,
typical lengths of stay, medications used in the hospital,
discharge planning, follow up care, and medication compliance
- Age specific treatment protocols designed to meet an individual
patient's needs
- Psychoeducational Groups providing information to our patient
population by clinical, nursing, and direct care staff teaching
within their respective field of expertise
Program for Adolescents ages 13-17:
- Provide adolescents and families with the help they need for
handling emotional pain, serious life problems, developmental
struggles, depression, and substance abuse and dependency
- Structured study hall allowing a patient to maintain studies
with ongoing contact from primary school
- Group Psychotherapy encouraging honest evaluation into
behavioral maladjustments and reinforcing pro-social coping
mechanisms.
- Our Family Program provides information and education related
to Continuum of Care (from outpatient to hospitalization), reasons
for hospitalization, typical diagnoses seen in the hospital,
typical lengths of stay, medications used in the hospital,
discharge planning, follow up care, and medication compliance.
- Psychoeducational Groups providing information to our patient
population by clinical, nursing, and direct care staff teaching
within their respective field of expertise.
The Program for Adults offers:
- Provide evaluation and treatment services for psychiatric
disorders and/or chemical dependency problems of all types, with an
interdisciplinary team approach to assessment and treatment
- Insight oriented Group Psychotherapy designed to provide
support and encourage disclosure of relevant patient issues.
- Our Family Program provides information and education related
to Continuum of Care (from outpatient to hospitalization), reasons
for hospitalization, typical diagnoses seen in the hospital,
typical lengths of stay, medications used in the hospital,
discharge planning, follow up care, and medication compliance.
- Psychoeducational Groups providing information to our patient
population by clinical, nursing, and direct care staff teaching
within their respective field of expertise.
- On-site Alcoholics Anonymous meeting occurs Wednesday and
Friday to provide positive social support for those patients with
