What should patients bring with them?

Patients should bring with them three changes of clothing, and two sets of pajamas. None of the clothing or shoes can have strings or hoods. All hygiene supplies are provided by the facility. Michiana is a non-smoking facility, so no tobacco products!

What are the visitation times at the facility?

Visitation times at the facility are:

  • Adults, Adolescents, and Children Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Senior Program Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Only 2 people allowed per patient during visitation at once.

What is the Family Program?

Family therapy is essential to the treatment of your child and many insurance companies including Medicaid are requiring family sessions. Your child's inpatient case manager or designee will be calling you within 24 hours of admission to schedule the family sessions. The family program is offered on Sunday from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm and provides you with needed information about our program, diagnoses, medication and discharge planning. Attendance is strongly encouraged. Patients do not attend this session, but an additional visitation is allowed after the program from 3:45 pm to 4:15 pm.

When can patients receive phone calls?

Times when patients can receive phone calls vary by age and time of the week.

  • Children can receive calls from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. during the week and 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the weekends.
  • Adolescents can receive calls from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. during the week and 10:45 to 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the weekend.
  • Adults and Seniors are able to receive call at various times throughout the day. Unit staff will let you know if the patient is in group or able to take the call at that time.

In order to contact a patient within the facility you must be on the phone or visitation list. For phone contact you will need to have a patients individual phone code.
Note: Only parents and guardian are allowed on the visitation list for children and adolecents.

Dr. Ceniceros: The best times to contact Dr. Ceniceros are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11a.m. to 12 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at 574-952-3825.
