Admissions
Our facility provides free assessment and referral services 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. Friends, family members and referring
professionals seeking treatment or information for children,
adolescents or adults can call our Assessment and Referral
Department at (574) 936-3784 for a free, confidential
assessment.
A client is considered to meet acute criteria if they are
in need of immediate stabilization due to a current threat of harm
to himself/herself or others and the client exhibits one or more of
the following behaviors:
- Suicidal/homicidal ideation
- Recent suicide attempt
- Recent self-harm behaviors
- Serious risk-taking, impulsive or dangerous behaviors
- Depressed mood with feelings of hopelessness, helplessness,
social isolation or withdraw
- Aggressive or threatening behaviors
- Mood instability
- Property destruction which may endanger the safety of the
client or others
- Bizarre behaviors/delusions (false thoughts/beliefs)/illusions
(misperception or misinterpretation of a real external stimulus)
that interfere with daily functioning ability
- Verbalization or demonstration of hallucinations (false
perceptions)- visual (seeing), auditory (hearing), tactile
(feeling), olfactory (smelling) and gustatory (tasting)
- Suspicion of or admission to alcohol or drug use that
interferes with daily functioning ability
- Alcohol or drug dependence which requires a need for
detoxification and assistance with withdrawal symptoms
- Disorientation or memory impairment which endangers the safety
of the client or others
- Need for immediate medication adjustment due to medication
ineffectiveness or severe side effects
- Failure of client to maintain in a current outpatient
setting
- Basic needs (i.e.: food, shelter, etc.) are not being met
due to the client's current psychiatric condition/substance
use
- Explosive anger outbursts/ oppositional defiant behaviors which
may endanger the safety of the client or others
- Severe anxiety/obsessive or compulsive behaviors which impairs
functioning ability
- Promiscuity/sexual acting out which endangers the safety of the
client or others
